"May the space between where you are and where you want to be continue to inspire you."
Tracee Ellis Ross
Hi! My name is Joshay. I'm a free spirit who enjoys life. In my spare time, I love to read, dance, listen to music and do yoga. My fitness journey began about eight years ago. During college, I gained a lot of weight and was very unhappy. In 2010, I started getting serious about my health and dropped a significant amount of weight. I then became a certified Zumba® teacher and started teaching classes around the Atlanta area. A few years later, I stopped teaching Zumba® to spend more time on my studies while pursuing my graduate degree. I have a passion for helping people change their lives through health and wellness and knew that I would return to teaching fitness classes as soon as life slowed down a bit.
In March of 2014, I started developing my yoga practice. The more time I spent on my mat, I realized that my mindset started to change. I started looking in the mirror and actually liked what I saw without worrying about pounds lost or thinking about ways in which I wanted my body to change. That feeling of acceptance slowly freed me from negative self-talk and I started to embrace my body as it was. I realized that my size did not affect my ability to practice yoga. My body is capable of amazing things and so is yours. As an instructor, I try to make all of my classes accessible to all. It is important for everyone to feel like the belong because yoga is for everyone! I am a 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher and a certified BUTI Yoga Instructor. I have been featured in Buzzfeed, Plus Model Magazine, and Yes Yoga Has Curves. The mental, spiritual, and emotional benefits of a daily yoga practice have been phenomenal and I am excited to help you to begin/continue your yoga journey!
